Jobs in financing and accounting aren’t going away anytime soon – in fact, they are getting powered up in the renewable energy industry.
The American economy is continuing to expand, and this means more financial records will need to be generated and analyzed. Virtually every company needs an accountant or an accounting team. Job openings in the clean and renewable energy industries are booming.
Blattner Company is dedicated to personal and professional growth. There are great benefits you can enjoy like 401(K) with employer match, 100 percent employer-paid health insurance premiums, dental and vision insurance, HSA and flex spending account options, PTO with holidays off, education and employee assistance programs and years of service recognition.
'A Consistent Schedule'
Mark Shirley, CPA, is a tax accountant at Blattner Company. He started working at Blattner in August 2020 and has been in the field since 2016.
He previously worked at a CPA firm before coming to Blattner. Shirley has liked the change of working in accounting in the renewable energy industry.
“Everything is different here,” Shirley said. “You have more of a consistent schedule, there is more teamwork and camaraderie, and you get to work with multiple departments within the company.”
The biggest change from the CPA firm to Blattner Company is the work/life balance and flexibility that Shirley has been able to achieve. He’s happy to help his team get the job done during work hours but knows he’s able to go home and focus on his personal life when work is over.
GRANDMA KNOWS BEST
The atmosphere and culture on the accounting team at Blattner is something he’s grateful for.
“Everyone is always willing to help and that’s what I love about our team,” Shirley said. “There are always certain deadlines to meet in accounting and finance, so when we are down to the wire everyone chips in to get the job done.”
The key to success in any accounting career is to develop an interdisciplinary skill set that focuses on not only finance but technology and communication. Shirley thought about a career in accounting and finance because his grandmother always said he’d be good at it.
“I really enjoyed my classes in college – my grandma was right,” Shirley said. “With all the recent growth at Blattner, we’re always looking for new team members. We would love to work with you!”
