Frequently Asked Questions

When do you offer internships?

We offer field internships during the summer, from late May through early August, and corporate internships throughout the spring, summer and fall.

How long do Blattner internships last?

Field internships are typically three months long, from late May through early August. Corporate internships are typically three months long with flexible start and end dates. We work to accommodate academic calendars. 

Do I need to be a full-time student to apply?

Yes, you must be a full-time student to intern with us. Our interns are usually sophomores, juniors or seniors who are in the process of obtaining a two or four-year technical school or college degree.

Field intern preferred areas of study: construction management, engineering and occupational health/safety.

Corporate intern preferred areas of study: accounting, business management, construction management, digital design, engineering, finance, information technology, mass communications, marketing or related disciplines. We offer corporate internships in our HR, Business Development, Quality, Operations (Engineering and Estimating), Supply Chain, Finance/Accounting and Marketing Communications departments. 

Where in the U.S. are your internship opportunities located?

Field internships are located at project sites throughout the U.S. while corporate internships are located at our company headquarters in Avon, Minnesota. 

Are Blattner internships paid?

Yes, our internships are paid. For field internships, we also reimburse lodging expenses as well as one-time mileage costs to and from your project site.

Can my internship be taken for course credit?

Yes, many students apply their internship with Blattner towards course credit, although this is not required. If you are interning with us for credit, we're happy to work within the guidelines of your school by completing any necessary paperwork, progress reports or evaluations.

What can I expect during my internship experience?

You’ll receive hands-on training and mentoring from experienced professionals who have extensive knowledge to share. But we also want you to dive in, contribute your ideas and enthusiasm and work hard to help the team succeed. In the end, you’ll have improved your technical proficiency, leadership abilities and problem-solving skills in real project situations.

Will I have an opportunity to be hired as a full-time employee?

Our internships provide a chance for us to get to know each other and, based on position availability, could lead to a full-time opportunity at Blattner.
