Fisher County Wind
419 Megawatts
Blattner Energy
Sustainability in Windy West Texas.
This 419-megawatt wind energy project in Fisher County (Texas) consisted of 34 miles of roads, foundations and collection system and the installation of 118 3.55-megawatt wind turbines. In addition, two miles of 345-kilovolt transmission line and a 345-kilovolt substation were installed. The Fisher County wind farm was successfully completed in 2020.
The Fisher County wind farm created more than 300 jobs during construction. This project is located is in one of the windiest corridors of West Texas. Projects like this are a crucial part of creating a resilient future for the United States. The clean energy generated from this wind farm is supplied to several corporate and institutional customers such as Ecolab, Lowe's, Brown University (Rhode Island) and Intuit under long term power purchasing agreements.
For Brown University, the power purchased will help offset about 30 percent of the campus' electricity and will cut emissions by 15 percent. For Intuit, this project allowed it to reach its 100 percent renewable energy goal 10 years earlier than initially thought.
